Personal background
I'm from Sydney, Australia. Just gone 57 years young and some call me a nurd because I've been in computers for over 30 years, seems I build my first using a kit I purchased from the UK back in the '60s sometime.

I'm a Technical Writer now, but my first love (hobby) is still computing, anyway I can get it. Got myself a top of the range just to get more CPU time with SETI@home.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
YES, I do think there's life out there, and have done all my life that I can remember. Maybe not life as we know it, or recognise it, but life just the same. Has to be. Even if GOD was a scientist, no scientist in their right mind would have only one evolving experiment in the one place, that's just asking for disaster to strike. Better to have several versions of the experiment going at the same time in different places, now that's a recipe for success.

If we truely are looking for the right reasons, then we should be sending signals (invitations) out to the far ends of the cosmos. If they (ETs) think they would be threatened by us, they won't respond. Likewise if they had the resources and wanted to conquer and dominate, they would have by now. Maybe they're looking just like us, and haven't found anyone yet, like us.

I believe that my running SETI@home helps, in a small way, in finding the truth. After all, "The Truth IS Out There"
