Hello from Los Angeles, CA. I've been processing SETI data since 1999 although I haven't always been able to devote as much CPU time as I'd like to the task. I've enjoyed looking at the platform/OS stats and I feel comfortable knowing that I've completed more work units than 94% of the users.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Of course extraterrestrial life exists. Are we so arrogant that out of the billions of stars in the universe only one has a planet with life on it? Please! Take your head out of the sand. Who knows when we'll discover it? The universe is a big place and everything is so far apart it could be ages before that happens.
I run SETI@home because I think it's a worthwhile scientific effort and I was annoyed to see the funding get cut. I'm happy to help out.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
