Personal background
I am a 29 year old IT Consultant in the Dallas Area. If I had a hobby it would have to be surfing the Net and messing with computers when I have time to work on my own.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
If there is a more intelligent life form out there why can't they find us we sure have sent enough stuff out there to bang around in the cosmos - Voyager I and II and the various other probes that had star maps and recordings on board. If less intellegent life what is there to gain from finding it other than to say it exist? I am mainly running SETI not for the ET aspects of it but for the discovery of the oddities of space and the deepening understanding and appreciation that this knowledge brings. Also the knowledge of what computers can be used for if everyone unites behind a common goal. The discoveries and the technology that has become by products of the SETI project are greater than that of the search (unless per chance a discovery is ever made.) SETI@Home is an interesting voyage into the depths of Space and the cutting edge of distributed computing anything that is that revolutionary I have to be apart of.
