Personal background
I am a fifty-something (soon to be six-o) Consulting Engineer and modelmaker, located near Chicago, Illinois. My curiousity about everything is insatiable. My favorite quote is "Count the day lost that you do not learn anything".

My career experience runs the gamut from Aerospace and leading edge medical equipment development to energy regulating controls for commercial and residential applications. I currently hold five patents.

Hobbies are many and varied. I grow orchids, play guitar and a Hammond church organ,(not simultaneously) enjoy woodworking with antique tools, have my own machine shop, fire my own ceramics, and have an understanding wife and faithful cat. The cat is the real ruler of the family.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Statistically, I believe we are probably not alone in the Universe. Radio signals are the most likely method of contact. But... as I have stated on some of the SETI BBS's, I get nervous about meeting ET's face to face. Historically whenever high tech meets low tech, guess who loses. If ET's have the capability of travelling light years to reach us, they are certainly more advanced. And hopefully benevolent.

I run S@H for the chance to be a participant in the greatest distributed processing project the world has ever seen, and contribute my tiny bit to the search for ET. Just don't give them my address!
