Personal background
I live with my young family in Perth , Western Australia, the most isolated capital city in the world!!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think life exists elsewhere in the cosmos. What I find interesting is what 'level' new life will be when us humans discover it!

In all probability I think the first 'extraterrestrial' life discovery will be bacterium or some other very simple, early building block of life. As much as I would love it to be intelligent I think we will discover 'it' in its most basic form, perhaps in a captured asteroid, comet or something similar. Hopefully life is abundant in the universe.

Possible dangers are new unknown viruses that could possibly have a devastating effect on mankind and perhaps other terrestrial life forms. Advantages are the exact opposite. We may find the key to immortality for instance?

I think its a great that we humans 'advertise' our presence to other possible intelligent life forms. A simple, cross-section of human civilisation should be sent out, much like what is contained within the VOYAGER probes.

I run SETI for the novelty. I'm afraid I do not think we will find E.T. this way however its fun to be involved in the project for the 'they just might be out there factor'.

I wish all involved in the project the very best of luck. I believe SETI@HOME is THE premier distributed computing project than anyone can participate in. I think its great the way the internet brings people together. Keep up the good work guys!
