Personal background
I've been an Amateur Radio Operator since 1977, and hold an Advanced Class license. I'm also a photojournalist with a large daily newspaper is south Florida. Married with four children.

In addition to my ham radio hobby, I enjoy tinkering with computers and have a 3 computer home network linking an Athlon Tbird 1400Mhz machine with a 1000Mhz machine and a 450Mhz machine (all running Seti@Home) and connected to the internet via Cable Modem.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have no doubt there are other forms of life locked far far away in the stars. Although I think it's unlikely we'll ever confirm that belief, I'm willing to do my small part in trying.

The distances across the universe are so great that our current technology is much too primitive to make a speck of a leap from any two points. If, ultimately, our desire is only to prove that other life exists somewhere else, we must hope that they're a heck of a lot smarter than we are!

Good luck to us all that some form of proof is discovered in our lifetime. I'm afraid we'll be holding our breaths for a long long time in anticipation.
