Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Well, the human race isn't the first intelligent species to evolve in this universe, and we won't be the last. If we want to make the most of our existence, we need to learn the whys and how’s. Maybe SETI will be the catalyst to launch us into a new age of thinking, to rip people away from their materialistic, self-absorbed lives and starting thinking about the big picture. Nothing else brings together such a large and diverse group of people from all over the globe, striving towards one common goal, like SETI@home does.
The one thread spirituality, religion, and science have in common is that they are just processes we use to answer the age old questions of why. In this modern age we use science above all else to ask these questions, and maybe SETI will help us on the road to answering them.
...ok, I'm done going off on that tangent now. I've been watching too much Star-Trek :)
