Profile: Corries

Personal background
I am the better side of 40 (!) and I live in Glasgow, Scotland. I have a lovely wife and two adult sons.

I am employed in law enforcement and have been fascinated by the universe and it's mysteries since I was a young boy. Star Trek (don't laugh) is what first sparked my interest in the universe and what lies unseen as yet.

I play guitar, I enjoy fly fishing and I ride a Honda Pan European motor cycle. I adore the spectacular Higlands of Scotland and if you ever want to see what another planet might look like then visit the Isle of Harris in Scotland. Breathtaking!! It has even been used in a famous science fiction film.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I cannot possibly think, in the sheer immensity of our universe, that life only exists here on our wee planet. Life elsewhere in our universe may not be like us but if it's there we'll find it. It's just a matter of time and commitment. We will discover other forms of intelligent life by listening to and watching space, not by visiting planets because they are close enough to reach, that is like a lottery (do it but don't escpect to win). When we hear or see our nearest intelligent neighbours we'll then know where to go.
We should transmit as many forms of beacons as possible, science, music, literature but not reality television!

I run seti@home because I can and because each of us should always want to know.

To find that we are not alone will be to begin to understand why we are here.
