Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Yes I think extraterrestrial life exists. And who's to say it hasn't been discovered already? Seriously though I think it'll be discovered by accident and hopefully by an 'ordinary' person. Benefits? Possible advances in medecine, technology, space travel etc. The dangers? Is the population of the earth ready for an extraterrestrial meeting? I mean we cant even get on with each other and we're all human!!!!

2. Radio and TV signals have been leaving the Earth for nearly a hundred years, so in theory could have travelled about 587,831,040,000,000 miles..in all directions, thats one hell of a beacon, As for the information we are sending.. well Star Trek, Dr Who and Blakes 7 reruns should make them think we're pretty advanced. Or are there aliens out there waiting to find out just who did shoot JR or who won the 2003 Rugby World Cup?

3. It's a good idea that's why... who wants a screen saver that just shows fish, or a moving logo. It's a pity that the worlds computing power cant be harnessed in more ways like this. Well done the SETI team and keep up the good work.
