Personal background
General

I'm an 18 year old University student studying an Engineering/Science double degree at the University of Sydney. To be more specific Computer Engineering and Physics, hopefully Astrophysics.

Interests

Some of my interests include Science and Technology, Astronomy, Gadgets and things, a wide variety of sports, hanging out with friends and occasionally computer games.

Probably wasn't too specific on the sports there. My favourites would have to be cricket and tennis, in that order. Those two games are amazing and i'd have to say that they are the best sports in the world. I am interested in many other sports ranging from Rugby Union to Archery.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Thoughts about SETI

One:
I do believe that extraterrestrial life does exist somewhere out there. The odds of us being alone in the universe are so astronomically high (heh, excuse the pun) that there has to be something somewhere.

I'm not so sure when we, humans, will discover extraterrestrial life. There woulnd't be any immediate danger, I suspect, of such a discovery. If there is a highly advanced civilisation out there they've probably known of our existance and have left alone. Something like that. :D.

Two:

There are pros and cons for transmitting a beacon for others to find, i'm one who would support a beacon.

The information that we should send out should be simple, concise and friendly. Something like a pleasant invitation.

Three:

I run SETI@home because I believe that there is life out there and i'd like to be part of the search. A contribution to the community.

The project is an extremely interesting one. The project is also a very exciting one, although it may not be quite obvious due to the client analysis program drawing rectangles on the screen, with possible revolutionary consequences.

Suggestions

Perhaps there should be a little messageboard or something. That's all I can suggest at the moment.
