Profile: Magnetar [DPC]

Personal background
I have just bought a new processor so this is a good way to use it :-)
It's a PIV 2.4ghz 400fsb @ 3ghz 500fsb. RDram
Unfortunately it's hard to compete with people that have several pc's at their disposal.
I already had an entry in SetiAtHome as mkleingeld@cistron.nl but that adress doesn't exist anymore. As I wanted to join a group I had to make a new entry because I didn't know my password anymore.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think this project really is great! It really touches two of my biggest interests namely computers and astronomy. I really hope that a positive signal will be found fast and that we'll be able to make some sense out of it. I don't think there is a real danger to it other then that some ignorant groups of people will have to completely change their look at life.
As for if humans should transmit a beacon themselfs, didn't we allready do that and continue to do so? Ever since radio signals have been made here on earth they have been leaking out into space and on the Voyager and or Pioneer spacecrafts?
I run Seti@home because first of all it's great to be able to contribute to such a momumental task and second, well there is a bit of a competition feeling to it to have one of the fastest home computers :-)
