Profile: Number1BadBoy

Personal background
I'm a journalist based in London. I work on a trade magazine for nuclear engineers so I'm normally reading, writing, buzzing around checking out power stations, waste stores and all that kind of stuff. It's not exactly thrilling, but I get to travel.

I like to drive my car and beep my horn at 4x4s, which suck.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home because I want to make the best use of my computer. I got the idea after working for a brief spell at the Home Office (the UK government department that looks after immigration and so on...) Over there, they had skyscrapers full of computers that, according to the IT people, _had_ to be left on _no_matter_what_. The massive, massive waste of energy made me think a little.

There are other similar distributed computing projects, but it's hard to find one that still works on funky Mac OS9. I have three classic iMacs at work (24/7) and my home PC running SETI@home.
