Personal background
Hello,

My name is Mark and I live about 20km south of Adelaide, South Australia. I am self employed in the computer industry and enjoy just having "time out" whenever I can, a good movie is also a treat. My wife Sarah and I have two children, one, 3 yrs and the other only 5 months old. We look forward to when we can both spend more time enjoying the years as they grow up.

My background is in Electrical and Electronics but after being on the Internet for over 10 years, computers have taken over as my primary passion. My previous employment was a contributor to me striving to achieve something out of the ordinary. As a result, much of my spare time at the moment is spent building a few e-comm businesses

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I strongly believe in the concept that there is life other than on earth. What we have around us is to huge and vast to conclude we are alone. I also feel that if one day we do have contact with Et's, we could not only learn from them, it would change all of us forever. Infact, I think considering the situations that exist in different parts of the world, now and in history, a visit may be the best thing that could happen.

I also agree with the transmission of a beacon or data for others to find. It would be great to know that when contact is finally made it was as a result of another being understanding our language. The data being sent should probably be what was sent before, a collection of as much as we can, history, music, human interaction, technology advancement etc.

I run Seti@home so that I can assist in something that I believe in. I feel what is being done here is outstanding and if we could pull together on other projects, it would be a better world. Working together toward a common goal is key and it is great to see, a true inspiration..
