Personal background
Hello

My name is Manjinder Singh Johal and I'm 26 years old. I live and work in England, UK as a CAD technician. I am a graduate of Physics with Space Science and Technology and am still looking to work within the science community, opportunities in science are not that common in the UK.

My ambition is to get involved in science career wise, ideally abroad in the US or Canada. Naturally, my hobbies include astronomy, scientific topics and sporting activities.

I've completed 5 units so far and working on my sixth. I'm still searching for an interesting signal as we all are. I guess that time will tell.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do I think that extraterrestrial life exists? Well that is a question that all of us are searching for and Seti@home well hopefully help solve this question.

If we do find an intelligent signal then what would our reaction be? Im sure that if aliens do exist then like us they are looking to make contact with other intelligent life forms.

If we consider all possibilities then some life forms may be more advanced or less advanced or equally advanced as us so we should have made contact. Unfortunately, due to current technology and funding the region of space currently observed with radio telescopes is limited and this may prevent us from ever detecting alien signals. Also the laws of Physics limit us on our search for extraterrestrial life as we simply cannot just get in a rocket ship and travel the galaxy stopping along each planet we come across.

Should humans send a beacon for others to find? Well we have been ever since radio and tv broadcasts. What would alien life forms think if they received past signals such as Hitlers broadcasts? Would alien life forms want to make contact knowing of all the political problems that are present today. We have to ask ourselves, "would we make contact with Aliens if they were at war with each other."

Back to my original question on whether extraterrestrials exist, well in a universe of infinite size there are infinite possibilities.

Happy hunting.
