Personal background
I have been particioating in the SETI@Home project for quite some time now and I just got back into it now that I have my new PC running. I am 26 years old and live in Aloha, Oregon. I have many computer-related interests that include, but are not limited to programming and script writing. I am currently working as a technical support representative for a high speed internet provider and I enjoy my work to it's fullest. I would say that the thing I like most about my job is talking to new people every day (sure, somtimes you get the same person, but it's rare). The thing that I most dislike about my job is listening to people complain about the people they talk to. For the most part, users may not know a lot, but they do listen. There are the occasional 'bad apples' that seem to ruin it for many technical support agents, but that I what I am there for. I assist the user in maiking sure the connection is fuctionin properly as well as educating the user in the process. I am also interested in bio-technology and hope to one day be able to augment my body with cybernetic implants in order to extend my life until my brain can no longer function. At that point, I will want to upload my personality onto the backbone as an AI in order to continue to survive.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do believe that life exists on other planets and that it will only be discovered by exploration. If life does exist, it is most likely either just as advanced as we or more so and they would be able to shield their frequencies to our scans. There will always be a possibility that the life forms are hostile and not want to associate with the life on earth. The benefits are too numerous to display here and It would be diffricult to name them all anyway.

I feel that we should transmit a beacon that indicates a desire for peacful contact as well as life long friendship.

I run SETI@Home in order to attempt to catch something interesting and find out what it is. The project is very well planned as well as well wirtten. At this time, I have no suggestions, but I will let you know if I do.
