Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that there are not just millions like me on Earth but that there also billions of lives (independant intelligencies) out in the Universe. Many will live on planets but intelligent organised life forms will have arisen in environments we cannot yet imagine.
We should send a beacon. It carries risk but nothing risked means little gained. Anything coherent and rational will be picked up (and probably already has been picked up) by other intelligent beings. We should also prepare.
Although I am unlikely to live into the discovery phase of SETI the search should go on!
The Contact will open the eyes of humanity to a richer appreciation of all life and a deeper, fuller understanding of existence.
