Profile: Josh Manchester

Personal background
I am a Staff Sergent in the Air Force currently stationed at Schriever AFB in Colorado Springs Colorado. I work for the 2nd Space Operations Squadron or 2 SOPS which operates and controls the Global Postioning System (GPS) constellation of satellites.

I have previously been stationed at Kadena AB on Okinawa Japan, Robins AFB in Warner Robins GA, Misawa AB in northern Japan, and Hill AFB in Utah.

I am a 2E171 by trade, which is Satellite Communications, and have been almost everywhere imaginable. I couldn't list all the places I've been just here in this text box. I have to say that the Air Force is tough but it's one of the most exciting and pleasurable expirences I've had. As of the time of this posting I have 8 and 1/2 years left until I retire and I hope that the next few years are as memorable as the last few.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I started running SETI at home a while ago after seeing a show on Discovery Channel about it. I decided that since there was some time that I didn't use my computers, I have 4, that I could let the idle time be used for something meaningful.

2. I think that it is a worth while project being a communicator myself. My whole job is listening for signals from space and passing on the information obtained from them.

3. I like that fact that SETI at home went with the Boinc Manager. It makes it so much easier to use.
