Profile: David Purveur

Personal background
I am a trained actor who has found himself working in IT, well the life-style is so much more secure but the laughs aren't quite so big and there is no applause! I heard about SETI on a programme in the UK called Tomorrow's World. I have been running the screen saver since 1999 albeit on only one under-powered Apple Mac.

I love watching rugby union and am hopeful that England will be the first northern hemisphere country to lift the Webb-Ellis trophy as world champions.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am not sure if E.T. exists but the balance of probability suggests to me that there must be other life forms on other worlds, however they may not necessarily take on a form or live the kind of existence that would make them want to reach out to the stars, but if we don't listen or call out we shall never know.

If we do send out any transmission I would suggest it be in one language only and not be a sound bite of our world at this time (I believe this to be a mistake that is aboard the Voyager spacecraft). Imagine you are some extraterrestrial trying to decipher this strange language that has no form or pattern to it not realising it is a collection of different languages all saying the same thing!
