| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I believe that extraterrestial life exists else where in the universe. Someday possiblely in my life time we humans may discover extraterrestial life. If these life forms are able to communicate with us there may be many benefits from such a discovery. However, based on the sickness and death that the Spanish gave the natives of the new world, I fear the dangers of such a discover. Therefore I question a beacon to allow other life forms to find us. If such a beacon could be constructed to hide its source then I would favor it. The only information that should be sent initially would indicate our intellegence and a willingness to communicate.
I run SETI@home because I, like all humans, want to know that we are not alone in the vastness of the universe and right now SETI is providing the only way that allows me to help answer this question. |
