| I have to say I am thrilled to be a part of this project. I'm a 40 year old retired veteran of the United States Air Force living just outside of Philadelphia. I enjoy racing, writing science fiction tales of a time traveler and his sentient, robotic best friend, composing music, making art and short films and above all, learning as much as I can about the myriad of fantastical subjects this world and beyond offers in abundance. It is safe to say I am rarely ever bored. I love taking road trips to unusual destinations and, as fun as the actual places I find myself turning up in or discovering may be, I have to admit, it is more the actually journey I love rather than the locations I eventually reach. I could spend days behind the wheel simply ticking off the miles, honing my skills as a driver and marveling at the spectacular vastness and varying environs of the land I inhabit. Over the years I have cultivated quite an interest in backyard astronomy and have become rather adept at finding my way around the skies. In many ways much more so than I am at terrestrial navigation for, as a driver, I tend to pay more attention to vehicular operation in the moment rather than where I actually am with regards to spacial orientation. Which suits me just fine. One can always stop to take one's bearings when required, however, it is being in actual motion that is the fun part. That said, I usually find myself where I need to be even if it was not exactly where I initially intended at the outset of an expedition. Perhaps one day I may find a cute, competent and daring co-driver to assist me with the navigational tedium. In closing, I find this work helping SETI to be important, fascinating and who knows... That next 'Wow!' signal may just be the one that expands humanity's place in the universe exponentially, for the better, for the rest of time. It'd be a hell of a thing to be a part of it and one that the curiosity aspect of my nature cannot resist. Happy hunting everyone. |
