Personal background
Hi!
I'm Ryan, 27 (as of writing this), I'm from the UK but currently living in Germany whilst I study my PhD in Genetics.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Since being young I have been fascinated by the night sky, and what might be just beyond.
When I found out about the Seti@Home, I really wanted to get involved just to be a small part of something truly exciting.
I think the search for intelligent life is extremely important for our species. Whether earth is the only place harbouring some form of life is one question, but whether or not we are the only intelligent species is something quite more. If by some chance we are, or at least, the only intelligent species currently existing, then as a species we should reflect at just how unique our place is in existence and ensure for our continued development. If we aren't, then finding evidence to suggest that intelligent life is more common than we imagined would be a seismic shift in our society, and more than likely for the better. So I think SETI and the Seti at home project are phenomenally important.
