Personal background
Hi!
As you can see above, my name is Ricardo, I from Sobradinho-RS, Brazil.
I have 19 and study computer science in the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM).
I am member have one year and way approximately, but as I am studying my calendar well is pressed and I did not use the computers that I have today. Today I have 2 computers running the SETI@home: One is a Duron 1.1GHz, Seagate 40GB 7200RPM, 128MB RAM (I will buy more 128MB in some days), Windows XP Professional, DSL 300Kb/s that it is in my apartment. The other is Pentium 4 2.4GHz, 40GB, 512MB RAM (I go to also place more 512 in few days), Windows XP Professional, link of 6Mb/s, that it is in the university.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1.I think that extraterrestrial life exists, and also think that one day we will find it.
Benefits? Dangers? First we have to find extraterrestrial life, later we worry about this, even because it will be only a discovery, not a contact.

2.I think that a preliminary evaluation would be more cautious, but after I do not see because not to send a message saying that we exist and that we are pacific.

3.I run the program because besides existing the possibility to participate of a great scientific discovery, I am using to advantage better the idle time of my computers.
