Personal background
I'm a network design engineer working for Telindus in the UK.
I spend most of my working time designing and consulting for large computer networks in the corporate, private and military sectors. In my spare time I'm a keen amature Astronomer with a particular interest for the SETI program. This aside I also like to keep up to date with the latest technologies as this forms an intricate part of my work.
Because of the type of work I do, the SETI@home project interests me a great deal when you consider the combined precessing power of home users and the idle time in corporate computers. With this kind of power available we can make the planet a technologicaly combined super comuter for all to tap into. All that is required is comitment and a huge super network to connect them to each other.
With this in mind you can now see why this particularly interests me. It is my vision to help to get broadband access to all that want it at low cost and maximum reliability. I have spent much of my time designing with standard networking components and a whole lot more with technologies such as ATM, this is a real power to be tapped into.
So work stuff aside I also enjoy a good round of golf and am a retired martial arts instructor, now i'm bringing body and mind aswell as technology together grasshopper!

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
So What is SETI to me? Well quite simply it is the ultimate discovery of all time, and when, not if we succeed it will mean a new begining and it may just safeguard of future and other beings futures.

I believe that a person whole belives we were formed in the image of a unique creator, mat be partially right, we are unique in many ways. However we are also very vunerable, the only way to survive ultimatley is to colonise elsewhere for the time we have in this rock is limited.

There may be out there somwhere a whole race of beings in neeed of our discovery to preserve there own existance, as we we may need in the future.

Knowlede is power and we must search for all the un answered questions, and use whatever reasorces available.

We should broadcast as much as we listen, as we have to assume that there are millions of beings in the universe doing exactly as we are. We should send information about our physical makeup and the makeup of the planet we live in. We should also try to give an indication of our understanding of technology and how we have evolved so far.
The SETI project is a wave at the future and I run it because I want to contribute all I can to this search. In my oppinion it should be promoted as much as possible and companies worldwide should reconise this technical effort.

Problems!! I think we will discover "ET" soon but I think he will already know we are here and has probably been trying to talk to us for a long time, the medium for this discovery will most definatley be a global effoert of the SETI@home type. The trouble is can Humans handle not being as unique as they once thought they were??

My attitude is: Lets turn the planet into a huge radio telescope and get this job done!! Need a network designed!!
