Personal background
I am an aging Software Engineer (late 50's) who's been interested in space research for most of my life. I still dream of the day that we find evidence that we are not alone in the universe. For various reasons I won't go into now (No, I was never abducted nor do I believe in alien visitations) I believe there are many other worlds out there populated by intelligent beings. Of course given the distances and time scale involved we could have missed radio signals from older civilizations simply because we weren't advanced enough to receive them if and when they were available. Even today our civilization is moving away from radio broadcasts as every form of communication goes digital and becomes confined to fiber optics. I see a day in the not to distant future when either through some form quantum entanglement or another technology that radio transmissions become a thing of the past and perhaps older civilizations moved beyond radio transmissions long before we were in a position to detect them.

I am happy to offer my meager computing resources to this endeavor and encourage others to do the same. Whether it's for SETI research or some other project the fact that individuals can help process information using home computers shows the kind of world we are. One where Human Curiosity is never quenched and millions freely participate in any way they can.
