Personal background
I have lived in North Carolina for the past 30+ years. I am now retired. I have always been very interested in science and space.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home because I want to be part of the discovery I know is coming, if it hasn't already happened. I could tell you that when I was young I saw the red ball in the sky, actually it was right over my head when I was driving along a two lane highway after dark in Arkansas in the early 90s. It came right over the top of the trees on my left and flew straight across in front of my car to the other side of the road over those trees and continued on. No flashing lights, no floating around, just a red ball. It was like it was on a mission and had a destination. I could tell you just a couple of years ago on my way from western NC to Raleigh NC I actually saw the black triangle air craft/space craft and it was up close and personal on my side of the road hovering just below and beside the top of a grove of trees on the side of the road close to an overpass. It was like it was hiding in plain sight. And I couldn't have been the only one to see it. I was headed east between Durham and Raleigh NC. I couldn't believe my eyes. My mother was with me. Anyway, of course I didn't think to take a pic or video I was too astonished and curious. I got a good look at it. I can't prove it now, but I will never forget it. So, this is another reason I am interested in helping out with SETI. And I'm pretty sure you guys already know about them, if not you should. So I'm trying to figure out why you need this SETI if you already know they are out there. Maybe to try and communicate with them or find their source, either way I want to help. By the way, can you pick up radio or communication signals on our planet as well as out in the stars? Would you be able to know if they were already here? If you aren't already looking on our planet for ET life, maybe you should. We do have satellites and maybe build a kind of radar that can find things in the air and on the ground that can't be seen by conventional radar. I'm not a scientist, but you guys are and you can do it. So if they are out there, we will find them. And by the way, how could I have seen those space craft or air craft and you haven't? I don't get that one.
