Profile: Kerry Marshall

Personal background
I have always been interested in space exploration, since being a kid and watching the first men land on the moon. I was an avid fan of the original Star Trek series (The new ones can't compete with Captain Kirk and his crew). I remember my grades going down drastically when the first Star Wars Movie came out, since I spent most of my class time drawing X-wing fighters and Tie-fighters with my friends.

Now I work for Rockwell Automation, formerly known as Rockwell International. You may have heard of the "Space Shuttle". Well we don't do that anymore. Unfortunately, the higher-ups at Rockwell decided we no longer needed to be involved in trivial matters such as space exploration when there is money to be made. So now we are Rockwell Automation.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Anyone who has read "Cosmos" by Carl Sagan should remember how he proved using simple math that the odds show that there is plenty of life out there. It will probably be a couple of billion years from now, before we find any proof. That's assuming that we will be around long enough to find it.

I think the best way to attract the attention of other intelligent life forms would be to broadcast something so interesting and appealing they would have to seek us out. Jimmy Buffet's "Cheeseburger in Paradise" would be an excellent example of this.
