Profile: Simon Treen

Personal background
I am 37 years old and live in Buckinghamshire in the UK with my wife and 2 children. I work as a Database Administrator for the Royal Air Force. My hobbies are computing and cycling, mainly road work in training for triathlons.

I run the command line version of Seti@home as a service - using FireDaemon (www.firedaemon.com) - on my Windows XP machine at home (Dual Athlon 1.8Ghz, 768Mb DDR RAM) and my Laptop (800Mhz Duron) - and also my sons machine - I don't know if he realises it's installed ;).

I have participated in the BOINC Beta test and I think it is a great idea that one open client will allow users to participate in more than on project.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am certain that there is extraterrestrial life, I find it impossible to think that among all the millions of stars & galaxies ours is the only one with any life. The current rate of rapid advances in technology will eventually enable us to peer further into the depths of space (& time) to reveal our companions in the universe. (Until then I'll just have to make do with Gene Roddenberrys version ;)
