Do I think extraterrestrial life exists?
I beleave that et's must exist this universe is just to big for there only to be life on one plannet (all though at the rate we're going we'll need some space to move into).
What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery?
The only thing that really worries me is when we find what ever else is out there it could be technologically/evolutionally that much more advanced compaired to us it might think we are nothing more than a trainable pet for it.

I beleave that mankind has been transmitting a beacon all ready radio waves can go an awfully long way in the vacume of space.
Why do you run SETI@home?
I have my computer which is reasonably fast and as i never switch it off it might as well do some good in the hours when i'm asleep.
