Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I do think ETL exists. The odds of the universe are in favor of such existence.
Shared knowledge would be the greatest benefit of contact. We certainly could
benefit from advanced problem solving in the environmental vein. I do think
we should be transmitting a beacon. Information should be location in every
way we can think to describe it.

I joined this project because the government dropped its support. I think it is
one of the most worthwhile things my computer can do! I would like to see
more dissemination about the SETI efforts because I think we need to seriously educate a population which is, in the main, prone to go off the deep end when faced with something they don't understand.

I understand that one can (with enough money) actually erect a radio astronomy station on one's own. A look at the number of serious participants in SETI@home might encourage a large elctronics consortium to create and market a home station with the help of SETI scientists. SETI@home could then assign points in the sky much as it now assigns data chunks. The equipment would be uniform and there would be a large enough market to bring the price way down.

I look forward to a long and fruitful participation in this project and I thank all those who have participated long before me and who have made such an undertaking possible. Any project which crosses national boundaries and cultures while working toward the expansion of human knowledge has got to be among the best things ever invented by human beings.
