Extraterrestrial life most certanly exists. Since the universe is said to be "infinite" there are also infinite possibilities for life. If there is life within our galaxy I think it would be centered to the center of the Milkyway. I don't think we will find proof of extraterrestrial life until some one wants to contact us. The other possibility would be if we could intercept broadcast signals from another civilizations radio/TV broadcasts. But given the distance and time such a signal would have travled we would probably recive a signal that was sent at least 500 years ago. And who knows what could happend with a civilization in that time. 500 years ago Columbus discoverd america and the fastest meens of communication was pigeons...
