Personal background
You're actually interested in who I am...
Well then, I'm from Montreal,Quebec,Canada. I'm 31, an I.T. Division manager.
I really enjoy travelling to other countries ( been to Cuba, Nicaragua, Mexico, France, Belgium, Spain, England, Scotland, Poland, Holland. Not necessarily in that order...) And I am an amateur photographer. Everytime I look at the stars I keep thinking, "How can we be alone in this world..."
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I first learned about SETI@Home through a local TV show explaining the principles of distributed computing. They talked about SETI@Home being a great example of that. I quickly logged on and installed SETI@Home. Why am I doing this? The sheer power of computing. Having a programming background, it amazes me the cpu power generated through distributed computing.
Searching for extraterrestrial intelligence is a great way of using unused cpu time.
Like I said earlier, how can we be alone in this world... It just seems impossible. Now will we discover them? Maybe... Will we communicate with them? I don't think so. At least not in my lifetime. By the time we find the signal, they may have been extinct for ages... Just like we might be extinct by the time someone finds us...
Should we transmit a signal? I think so. Just so the age old question for everyone can be answered "Are we alone..."
