This project is a good idea because work that needs a lot of time can be split up to many users and thus be accelerated.
I have always been interested in the question "are they out there?". And I am sure they are.
Imagine how fascinating it would be if we could discover "civilized" ETs! I think we wouldn't be wrong if we transmitted our own signal for others. Maybe they run kind of SETI@home, too...
