Personal background
I am 68 years old. I have been obsessed with technology since the days of the mainframe. I was born in Central Illinois but have lived in Kentucky for almost 40 years. I began my career in IT as a manager for KY. Revenue, working on Wang and Honeywell systems. I left Revenue and became an IT manager at KY Economic Development where I was tasked to upgrade their mainframe type system to a Windows based OS. I implemented the automation of their processes in 4 locations including setting up a communication network. I then became IT manager for the Medicare Peer Review Corporation in KY. I managed an Oracle/Unix system. I became a contractor as an Oracle DBA. I helped design the KY Department of Insurance database on a Microsoft Platform and Oracle as the database provider. I am retired due to illness but the thirst for technology is still in my "blood." I miss it terribly.
I am an avid reader. I was also an obsessive gardener but have been unable to do that due to R.A.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I ran SETI@home many years ago (10+ ) I was telling my granddaughter about the project and lo and behold, I searched for you and found you. I am overjoyed that I can rejoin the project. My grandson-in-law was intrigued and he now runs SETI@home on a dedicated computer.
