I hail currently from the Cincinnati Metro Area. I am a trained scientist that has worked many years in biomedical research. I have recently taken a job that also appeals to my other passion, computers and computer programming.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run the application as a nod to my natural scientific curiosity. I think the aims of the project are great and it appeals to my desire to contribute to a project that "aims at the stars". I am occasionally baffled with the frustration of others in not "earning their points" due to server problems and such. The project should live or die on its scientific merits, not on the vanity of power users, who threaten to take their toys and play with somebody else.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
