Personal background
I am a retired Baptist minister (52 yrs old)that currently teaches social studies in High School. For the last five years I have taught every science in high school except Chemistry. Back in 1998 I taught Astronomy and Western Civilization part time at Mohave Community College in Kingman, AZ. As an avid astronomer with a nerdy bent I try and keep up on the latest info in every aspect of astronomy. I do not observe as much as I would like since I currently coach 3 sports a year! my other hobbies are weight training, fishing, hunting and reading.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home because I feel like I am making a contribution in a worthwhile endeavor. It is also cool and you get lots of comments about the awesome screensaver. The next question is "What does it mean." Good question but it is really cool!
Even though i do not think we will find anything in my lifetime it is still worthwhile to look. I would suspect even though planets are common intelligent life is not. In fact after watching the news I wonder when we will discover intelligent life on Earth!
