Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
E.T. exists, otherwise we wouldn't be searching for him. Now that was only a divine-logic type phrase. Humans will discover it when they are ready to. The possible dangers of the discovery would be Alarm, War, and Oblivion. The Benefits would be Commerce, Trade, and Alliance. The transmission of a beacon is a good idea. Trouble is that mostly only humans would be able to read it. Deciphering is a talent, but folks of otherworldy or even etherworldly origin probably would treat it as snow. We should send basic information about those folks on our planet who represents the greatest commerce, alliance, and trade - that is what we wish to attain. I run SETI@home out of intrigue. I have high approval of the project - it is perfect efficiency. I would suggest, that since it is a PC program now, that a color change bar should be included for the fun of the user. |
