Personal background
Im 25 and live about 35 miles east of london. My occupation is TO ( im an train operator for london underground) on the Victoria line. My main intrests have been computers from an early age. I started off with an commodore 16, then went to the 64. By the early 90s I had an Amiga 500, as well as an Atari St, one had to go so the ST went.By 2000 I owned nearly every commodore amiga that was built, what a blinding machine, it could have been so easily the Pc's we all use today!!!!!
I finially buckled to owning an Pc in 2001, when the wife demaded that either my machines went or her, so Bye Bye Amigas. In came Shining new Pc (733mgz P3). Ive since rebuilt it and started overclocking, ive now got 2100 P4 amd. It fast but I must admit I really do miss the Humble amiga.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Ive always been fasinated with outerspace and im like everyone else, Is there life out there, or are we the only ones?
This project has given me the excuse of installing broadband and have my computer on 24-7. Will we find anything, who know but if we dont leave our machines on and support this project we may neverknow!!
With the speed of machines now there is no excuse, all the large companies with untold amnout of processing power, is the average machine doing anything when your employies are at home at the weekend or evening,it wouldnt hurt these companies running SETI I know some do, but if more done it, who know what we find!! It all about teamwork so comeon people get the whole world crunching!!!
