Australian woman living in Victorian- rural city. ( that means not melbourne )
grateful to be alive now - so much to learn. access to technology.
just learning about computers and the net --
LOL -- when i was in high school (in Melbourne) there was ONE computer for the whole college ( about 1000 students in two grades) -
we were priveledged to use this puter once a week - supervised !! - we had to feed it punch cards.
amazing times to be alive!! :-)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do you think extraterrestrial life exists?
1/i have no idea - but if we are not looking we will not see it.
2/ statistics HA! -- but it would be extra ordinary if there was NO life on other planets .--- wether we can understand it in any way at all - or even recognise it- is another thing.
Why do you run SETI@home?
i would like to live in the times when we "see" et life.
Even if i never see conclusive results of ET life either way... i LOVE the idea of people from all over the world joining together to work on a project.
i LOVE the hopefullness of this project...
i believe in the positive spinoffs:- a sense of community, increasing knowledge - possible useful technologies -- eg this model of volunteer computer use is now being used else where
