SETI@HOME - run by Quinten's Godfather
These results are actually calculated by several workstations running in the European Data Centre of Procter&Gamble.
This computer centre is located in Brussels, Belgium.
The workstations that are used are :
4 PI 133MHz
2 PII 266MHz
3 PIII 500MHz
2 PIII 650MHz
1 Apple Macintosh (unknown speed)

It's a simple family term to indicate a person, namely me. ;-)

How and when did you become interested in SETI@home?
The interest in SETI started after the movie 'The Arrival' starring Charlie Sheen, and got an additional boost after 'Contact' with Jodie Foster.
The SETI at home project got my attention from the beginning of 1999, regularly checking the updates on the webpage as the initial date was always moved backwards, till finally on May 16-17th, the first version was released for the public.
Why do you run SETI@home? What are your views about the SETI@home project? Why do you think it's worthwhile?
This project is definetely worthwhile, as the universe is so unbelievable big, that it is almost impossible that we are alone in the universe.
It could be well possible the other live is either already extinged, or else too far away.
But we should try to locate it, if it is within our grasp.
What are your thoughts about extraterrestrial intelligence? Are they out there? Will we discover them?
Same answer here, the ET's might exist, but if we are going to discover them? Maybe within the next hundreds or thousands of years.
What are the benefits and dangers of such a discovery?
Dangers? Possibly, if they have the same president as people like Bush Jr. Else, it could be an interesting twist of the evolution.
Should we transmit our own signal for others to find?
Absolutely, if they find us first, as their technology might be further developped.
