Profile: huffus

Personal background
I earned the name "huffus" from forever being in a huff about one thing or another. My family chides me constantly, adding other monikers such as "huffbucket" or, my favorite, "huffus Anne", my middle name. My kids even call my van the "huffmobile".....I get no respect. Born Columbus, Georgia, July 8, 1947. Currently a homemaker caring for my 93 year-old grandmother. Biggest hobby is reading....anything and everything. I do crosswords and other word puzzles in my spare time. My largest fascination is with our future in space exploration. Anytime I come across related items in newspapers or magazines, I know my family tires of hearing me blurting, "Another Star Trek moment!" My fantasy is to be around to see what we actually achieve in space and contact with other species. Any ideas about exactly how to do this would be appreciated......
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I've been interested in ther topic for a long time. Seems like I remember joining the Planetary Society, maybe 20 years ago or more? I let my membership lapse, but my heart is still in it.

I absolutely think life exists elsewhere...hopefully, intelligent life. Being a "born again" atheist, I'm far too sensible to imagine that of all the myriad places which exist in the universe ours is the only one that harbors life. It seems to me the possibilities are endless. I believe that, unless it discovers us first, we must actively seek it.....through research and exploration, including adequate funding. Obviously we should continue SETI and related research, as well as getting NASA back on the sort of track it was on during the sixties. I see myself as contributing in the only way I can, which is to run SETI@home.
