Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI is brilliant. I recall about 20 years ago a BBC program called COSMOS with Carl Sagan fronting it and I purchased the book of the series and was fascinated, not least by the photography but all things space. I seem to recall that Carl was one of the founder members of SETI. That 20 years on I can still recall him, the series and its lessons shows what a stunning impact he made. The idea that we as individuals can combine together with the SETI project to search for life elsewhere, is in itself a lesson for all humanity and beyond. That we can get together and do this is marvellous, never mind that we may or may not find evidence of life, the simple coming together as a combined human effort to trace other life is something to be shouted about from the highest hill tops (or from space!)

I run SETI from home to be part of the global team and take part in this effort. I feel you should make information about the world wide effort more public, both through the media and the web site. For instance how many people in each country are taking part. How many 'near misses' have you had.
