Personal background
I am a wandering taoist and pantheist who spends his time at photography, computers and best of all with my wife and daughter. I enjoy walking, sleeping, laying about on the floor, and generally behaving in ways that make people say things like "act your age."

I spend a lot of time at dmoz while using linux and my distro of choice is Mandrake.

Get a real OS. Get Linux.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It is impossible to imagine that one small backwater world in one undistiguished galaxy is the only place for life. Deal with it. We are not alone. The only question is why are we not actively transmitting to encourgae communication? Are we really so afraid it will be answered?

I run seti@home because while it is working under many limitations and may never find the answer it seeks, it is the best bet we have today, and we would all be less if we didn't ask the questions, "Who is out there, and are they listening? Are they talking? What can we learn from them, what can we teach them?"
