Personal background
I am a 56 year old housewife (bet you didn't think they still existed, eh?) from Auckland New Zealand, who enjoys many things. Some of them . . . my family (husband, and son & daughter in their 20s), genealogy, writing, scrapbooking, theatre, music, catching up with people from my past via the internet, travel, dining out, tennis, space, spiritual matters etc etc.
I had been running SETI@home for some years when our computer gave up the ghost; when I went to log back on with our new computer, I realised I had forgotten my Login, so have had to take on my husband's ID. So if I find an alien signal, it's MINE not HIS - OK? :)
This is such a great idea, isn't it? When people ask me what I do all day, I can now tell them, "Searching for aliens" - they think I'm nuts.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I started off believing that there must be extraterrestrial life out there somewhere. I still think so, but it may be impossible for us to find at the moment. Chances of finding a planet at our stage of development (or ahead of it) seem very slim. But I still think it's worthwhile looking and hope that we never give up on that.
Our experiences on earth tell us that if one race has superior technology, they are not that likely to want to share it or help their fellow beings. Let's just hope that any advanced alien species that we manage to contact are more spiritually enlightened than we are!
