Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Just a thought, if we have been transmitting radio waves and television images into space for the last 50 or so years, does anyone else think it likely that ETs would probably prefer to avoid us once they see the content After all there are many movies and TV programmes that depict us as nothing more than alien killing paranoids, bent on destroying anything that we don't understand or can't come to terms with.

Any ET coming across such material may well not know them for fiction. It could even be that any ETs coming our way might well already be hostile towards us before they've even met us.

I know that there will also be other content to gainsay this, but how will ET know what's fiction and what's not?
