Profile: MikeWhy

Personal background
hey all.

michael young (AKA mikewhy) here. I'm a 37 yo guy from vancouver bc canada. while mi'm not really a computer 'nerd' *per se* i like to think my nerdiness comes out in my fascinations with things historical (mainly english history, 1350-1485, and esp. 1629-1660 --the Wars of the Roses & Peasent's Rebellion, & the English Revolution, respectively-- the development/history of capitalism and a few other collisions of economics, 'culture, & politics) and things philosophic (historiography, critical theory/Frankfurt school, phenomenology, post/modernism). i'm also involved in a few groups involved in advocating for social justice for resisdents of my neighbourhood, traditionally the poorest in canada.

kinda weird, huh?!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
i don't know of ET life exists, really, but, given the vastness of "existence" (or what have you), it wouldn't surprise me in the least. :) one can hope, I suppose, that is there *is* life out there somewhere, that hollywood has gotten it (mostly) all wrong!

I use seti@home on my home computer and on the machine i use when working away from home, both as the main sceensaver.
