But Mark, I don't feel it's asking too much that they share a bit of the profits with me.

By all means, let them profit. Just give me (us) even a tiny bit!

You are forced to give rich people your money every time you are denied a raise or given a smaller raise than they can afford. You are forced to give rich people your money every time your employer profits a dollar and doesn't give you any.

Rich people aren't necessarily bad or evil. But the system in which we function encourages greed and encourages them to screw us .

The question is will he be a trivia answer in a century?

Hopefully if he is, the question will be "Which president served the shortest term" (or second shortest, assuming he makes it more than 31 days).

He is a turd. The biggest turd ever. This is no longer an issue of Dem vs. Rep or Left vs Right. He's a big, smelly, dangerous turd that needs to get the fudge off of twitter and start being a president instead of a 'tween.

So, this totals to about (rounding to 3 significant digits) 1,040,000 employees worldwide. So, that is over 1 million employees right there. And that million is just those that work DIRECTLY for those 8 at just their primary businesses.

So, these guys hold the wealth of over 3 billion people, and only directly employ approx 1 million. I'd say they are not putting their money to enough use...

There's your fiduciary duty in all it's glory.

Today is the feast of Martin Luther King, a saint in the Church of England, a hero in America. So why have we strayed away from him during the Obama presidency?

"Many have cited as a reason the president-elect's recent attack on civil rights icon and fellow congressman John Lewis."

"Routine media access to the White House could be a thing of the past under Donald Trump's presidency..."

Speaking on CBS' "Face the Nation," Pence said the move is intended to reflect the Trump administration's "commitment to transparency, to free and independent press."

This administration is getting *really* good at saying one thing while doing another. I suspect there will be no shortage of this duality over the next four years.

Beijing will 'take off the gloves', if Trump continues on Taiwan- China Daily

"If Trump is determined to use this gambit in taking office, a period of fierce, damaging interactions will be unavoidable, as Beijing will have no choice but to take off the gloves," the English-language China Daily said.

...

"If you do not beat them until they are bloody and bruised, then they will not retreat," Yang Yizhou, deputy head of the All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, told an academic meeting on cross-straits relations in Beijing on Saturday.

Taiwan independence must "pay a cost" for every step forward taken, "we must use bloodstained facts to show them that the road is blocked," Yang said, according to a Monday report on the meeting by the official People's Daily Overseas Edition.

So Rudy Giuliani will be Trump's Cyber Security Advisor. Another questionable choice?:

Giuliani has a long and involved career in computer sciences. He's a capable programmer with an excellent understanding of modern IT. He has spent many years writing code, and he has personally set-up and administrated large and complex modern computer networks. He has also written many whitepapers on the current state of IT security and malware issues.

Trickle Down (a.k.a Supply Side) Economics 101. (yes this is going to be a lot of copypasta, as I have put in my personal opinions time and time again. This post will outline what I expect to happen in coming years, assuming Trumpler and/or his policies get a complete term.)

Even the general term given to the policy and policies like it, explains the concept pretty well: It TRICKLES down. (I prefer the term "Dribble Down")

Trickle: to flow in a thin gentle stream, to dissipate slowly.

"There are those who believe that if you just legislate to make the well-to-do prosperous, that their prosperity will leak through on those below. The Democratic idea has been that if you legislate to make the masses prosperous their prosperity will find its way up and through every class that rests upon it."
-William Jennings Bryan

"In the 1992 presidential election, Independent candidate Ross Perot called trickle-down economics "political voodoo.""

"The world's super-rich have taken advantage of lax tax rules to siphon off at least $21 trillion, and possibly as much as $32tn, from their home countries and hide it abroad – a sum larger than the entire American economy."

"Inequality is much, much worse than official statistics show, but politicians are still relying on trickle-down to transfer wealth to poorer people."

"This new data shows the exact opposite has happened: for three decades extraordinary wealth has been cascading into the offshore accounts of a tiny number of super-rich."

"In many cases, , the total worth of these assets far exceeds the value of the overseas debts of the countries they came from."
Source.

"[I]f the income share of the top 20 percent (the rich) increases, then GDP growth actually declines over the medium term, suggesting that the benefits do not trickle down. In contrast, an increase in the income share of the bottom 20 percent (the poor) is associated with higher GDP growth."
Source.
This last quote backs up my belief that putting money in the hands of those at the BOTTOM, has a greater effect on the economy, is better for the greater good, and allows a better distribution of wealth, even at the top rung of the latter.

These are just a few reasons that making the rich more rich, doesn't help the masses, or the economy. Trumped-up Trickle-Down, here we come!

Guy, I don't think I said we should 'follow their leader', I don't think I said we should emulate them in any way. You pointed out some valid reasons *why* the things are the way they are, but NO of course I don't necessarily believe any of it is 'the right way'.

As far as 'should we let it continue', JaundicedEye just had a decent post that both outlined my opinion on (non)interference and outlined the reasons why non-interference doesn't always work.

I'd prefer to leave it(them) alone. But of course when you do that, bad things could happen that could ultimately drag us in to conflict. As such, I do not have a clear answer to what action we should or shouldn't take concerning them. All I would say is that we shouldn't be sooo quick to claim our superiority and take a hard line against them, without first examining all options- like peaceful resolution.

In the USA, power flows from the bottom (the People), to the top, constrained by the limits in the individuals' State and the Federal Constitutions, not the other way around. Remember that.

ROTFLMAO

It flows from the oligarchs with their massive campaign contributions.

Hence my belief in certain regulations, and my hatred of others. Citizens United, anyone?

I don't remember anything like this planned for obama's inauguration from the republicans.

It's about time for some adult leadership. We've been without it now for 8 years.

Yes, because people planning on protesting (in an improper fashion) is *also* the fault of POTUS (like everything else...).

sigh.
Maybe our new totalitarian dictator can change this country into something that will make you happier.

@MK, unfortunately like many Americans I do not pay as much attention to my state and local elections as I should. That said, my local media is also at fault for not giving enough information to make a truly informed opinion, especially at the city+county levels.
As far as congress and senate- my preferred candidates hold office in both. luckily.

Being critical of government != being anti-law. (does not equal)

Quite the contrary actually. Being critical of government and holding them accountable, makes one a PATRIOT.

Ex: "Socialist"...

Question: Is Trump, as of January 20th, the Constitutionally Elected President of the United States. And therefore , Your President.

Just as those Presidents, I didn't vote for, and sometimes hated, were still My Presidents.

Answer?

BTW: I voted for Hillary and Trump will be My President.

He will be the President of the US, and hence in a legal sense he will be my president. But I do not have to be happy about it, and I have a right to hold him accountable, and a responsibility to point out how dangerous he is/could be.

The rules of the college votes would have to change so that whomever gets the most votes wins, regardless if it was more than 50%. This would be part of changing the system to fit more parties.
