Post: Why would you take the large amount of time to create art unless you get something for it? As an example of how broken copyright is: a pharmaceutical company spends hundreds of millions to discover, test, refine, retest in human trials (which can take a decade), certify, produce and advertise a product that has the potential to save millions of lives. They get a 20 year patent. A reporter tosses off a screed about the new product in fifteen minutes, and their work is under copyright for their lifetime plus 70 years. When the US was founded, it was 14 years flat and I would argue it should have stayed that way. |

Post: MAGA Talking Heads Want Georgia Republicans to Overhaul Laws to Pardon Trump. Georgia has? is working on? a bill that allows the governor to remove elected District Attorneys. As well there's a legal framework for getting a state trial moved to Federal court if the accused was on the fed. payroll at the time. He'd probably go for this for the chance of getting a judge he nominated plus the possibility of self-pardon if he is re-elected. So, still nothing certain just yet it seems. |

Post: Giuliani hyped this video as 'smoking gun' for voter fraud – now it may land Trump in jail. I still have my doubts he'll see a day of jail. He'll probably end up with some suspended sentence nonsense and continue as if nothing had happened. He may even be re-elected (and if he is will immediately pardon himself of every Federal charge, which is to say... everything worth anything) because although he tried to overthrow the federal government (among other things), Joe Biden despite leading a record-setting stock market and strong economy and passing two historic bills with unprecedented bipartisan support (plus many others) from his decades of experience, stammered and stumbled a couple of times (being 80 and all), and also has a (D) after his name so is clearly unfit for office. :^p Wish I was kidding about the possibility of this coming to pass... |

Post: And then there's those guns that go off by themselves. As soon as I saw this I thought "Sig Sauer". I am at a loss why any professional org. ie militaries, police, security continue to use these things. Our dopey military just replaced all its sidearms with the P320, disregarding there have been over a hundred of these "spontaneous firing incidents", so expect a few stories like this from Canada until they waste more taxpayer money replacing them. |

Well, there is the US Constitution ,14th amendment, section 3: "No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any state legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any state, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability." If he is convicted of any insurrection charge including conspiracy, there will be strong legal grounds to prohibit him from all public office... |

Post: Russian Losses in Bakhmut 'Nine Times' More Than Ukraine's. A lot of people thought Ukraine's commmanders were nuts to slog it out in Bakhmut when the entire town is basically trashed, and this was the reason suspected. (Crazy like a fox?) Wow... 9x is more than I would have guessed. |

Post: One thing that seems to be overlooked by those supporting Donny, and the American population in general, is "What will be the impact on U.S. Intelligence if Donny gets away with these charges and becomes president again?" Of all the legal challenges, the ones I was most hoping would go to fruition were the Jan. 6th set. If he were convicted of any form of insurrection ie conspiracy, he would then be prohibited from seeking public office due to the 14th amendment. Doesn't seem like that's going to happen in time though. |
