Windblown?
At least it is a reasonably sized tree - on the Orkney Islands "large" trees are barely ten feet tall, and, even in sheltered locations stand at a distinctly jaunty angle.


I don´t know if it´s windblown, it sure looks like it. As far as I could find the average wind speed in the area is between 6 and 7m/s though I have no clue if that is enough to do that to a tree or not.

What type of tree is it?


I have no idea. If it helps someone identify it, the location where the photo was taken is Mar Vermelho, Alagoas, Brazil. The climate there is what we call Agreste, that is like a transition zone between the tropical forest-y coast and the arid interior.
