It's rated as one of the best of the free ones. It has a nag screen that pops up everyday trying to get you to buy the premium version. Just Google on how to turn it off. For spyware, I have been using 2 programs.......both free........ Malwarebytes and Spybot have done a really good job on removing the bad stuff.

My $.02 from an Average Joe cruncher. I have been running Seti on my computers for 9 years. Since it looks like we won't hear from E.T. in my lifetime, I need something to show me what value I am getting from this project & also what value I have to the project. RAC & total credit are the only way I have of seeing what I have accomplished. My RAC is about 15,000.00 Change to..........1,500.00 or 150.00 or 15.00 You can tell me all day long that 15.00 is the same as 15,000.00 All it tells me is that my contribution doesn't mean as much anymore. And please, don't try & blow smoke & use that worn out excuse that credit really doesn't mean anything......that it's all about the science. If that were true, why do you suppose we have such competition among the participants of this project. Bragging rights must have some meaning to the people who have spent literally thousands of dollars to build a crunching farm. It certainly gives everyone lots to talk about. I personally have learned much about overclocking & the use of an optimized application & many other computer related stuff from reading the the postings of all the many experts on this board. Haven't heard much about the science lately. I'm done now..........ducking for cover

Graduated High School in 1965 in Richfield, Minn. Only time I was ever in California was 1971. Returning from 'NAM......Spent all of 4 hours there. Kinda in a hurry to get back to wife in Alabama. My brother lived in CA for a while. He taught at San Jose State for about 5 years. Now he's a networking guru for Intel. Lives up in Tualatin now. Thanks for the advice.

I'm using the optimized SSE4.1 application. I just got beaten by about 200 seconds by a wingman running a Q9300 at stock speed and using the SSSE3 app. Thinking about trying the SSSE3 app myself I'm wondering what all you experts think? I've been crunching since '99, but still think of myself as a newbie when it comes to computers as compared to what I read on this board.
