i really hope they will send more crafts of those, successors. i think so far in the 21th century, it s the space program that paid the most and made the most huge step, more than any other space program. and i wish this time we will try to get the most info on closest stars. and i wish also they would add some kind of gear to record some broadbands (out of all earth interferences) |

Warp drive continues to be tested
(Message 1368325)

I hope some super genius finds the answer, presuming there is one, to creating a means of "warping" space for the purpose of powering "starships" using power that is within our means of generating. I also hope it is done before I die but I'm not holding my breath. maybe we will have time to comeback as a baby till then |

bah usually computers works like if an hole is not filed = 0 and if it s filled = 1 if instead, a system could be set like... neutral commutators and if it goes to an '-' charge: it could be ' negatif = 0 ' or goes to an '+' charge, it could be ' positif = 1 ' so staying at neutral poisition could means 'both value' or 'none of these value' ^^^ ? |

Broken clock
(Message 1362736)

the clock we use and which match our 24 hrs planet rotation is only good ... for here, on earth. any other civilisation in the universe will use a different clock, based on their planet or something else. |

comets also get their 'slingshot effect' around the sun.. i need to make web research about all their speed(speed of voyagers, speed of planets , speed of comets... speed of last mars missions...) to learn more about that BTW, Thx for the answers |

never understood why they never sent some new 'Voyagers with todays technologies' towards our neighbors yet. i m pretty sure they would be already further than the old ones. but... another thing. if happends we 'cant escape' a solar system ? (it always throttled in my mind).. if you take the very ecliptical planets, or even the comets, they arrive with speed, attracted by the sun, and then turn around, and be propulsed with high speed toward the exit of our system. and then, they likely stop their courses and ....comeback ! and why they comeback ? they should pass the voyagers like a sprinter passing by an old woman with her cane ! Why it stops and comeback ? gravity of the sun ? and why this gravity doesnt apply to the voyagers or any spaceship ? Why its different ? |

yes there are plenty of planets with life on it, millions (so of course , aliens exist) but.... there is no aliens in here, nor around here. none are visiting us nor will visite us in future. we used to live and watch sci-fi since a century, but it will always be only sci-fi. the distance between worlds are very too big thats it s impossible to travel it in a relative short amount of time. travel at light speed, faster or just under light speed will never exist, whatever the age of their(our) civilisations. it will only stay just sci-fi. (even if it would have been possible, there is no civilisation on the closest star (aka centaur) which would take 2-3 years to come here. there is no aliens who would lose 2-3 years of lifetime to just come here a day or 2. ^^ and even less 150-300 years life time from further suns hehe. even the radiowaves cant make the travel, even less an alien or an human. |

they made a fundraiser for getting a ntpckr server and got it. but when was time to use it, they took it for something else. will probably do same for next one :P The mantra we hear is "We don't have the time, we don't have the money, we don't have the equipment, we don't have the volunteers" but I would submit that there is someone, probably several someones, out there who does. i think they should give the projet and all the data/material to another university. we specially need fresh blood. i have too much the feeling they arent interested to spent time anymore. they just keep it running and store data last few years (and next few years till we have new bloods) |

The later could just be a case of their wishing to observe us, without unduly influencing our behavior, at least for the time being. the Vulcans are already watching us, they just wait we do our first warp engine to show themselves to us. |

to the 1st post of this thread i would say : or we dont use the good frequencies / material / technology or or i rather think they dont even studies our results, they just stacking them up in a database. They arent interested to spend time / arent paid to do it so they dont spent a sec .... Maybe one day, the directors of this projet will be renew and we will have fresh blood and they will have interest to at least check the results. Please explain what is "sub-space communication" In the Star Trek fictional universe, subspace is a feature of space-time that facilitates faster-than-light transit, in the form of interstellar travel or the transmission of information. Subspace obeys different laws of physics. Subspace has also been adopted and used in other fictional settings, such as the Stargate franchise, the "Scott Pilgrim" comics, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, and the Descent: Freespace and Halo video games. In most Star Trek series, subspace communications are a means to establish nearly instantaneous contact with people and places that are light-years away. The physics of Star Trek describe infinite speed (expressed as Warp 10) as an impossibility; as such, even subspace communications which putatively travel at speeds over Warp 9.9 may take hours or weeks to reach certain destinations. Since subspace signals do not degrade with the square of the distance as do other methods of communication utilizing conventional bands of the electromagnetic spectrum (i.e. radio waves), signals sent from a great distance can be expected to reach their destination at a predictable time and with little relative degradation (barring any random subspace interference or spatial anomalies). |
